Westbrooks wed in Westbrook

Westbrook City Clerk Barbara Hawkes officiated Friday at a unique wedding ceremony on the City Hall lawn.

Jonathan E. Westbrook, 42, married Jeannine Marie Griffin, 33. They live in South Windsor, Conn.

He has collected city memorabilia over the years and, coincidently, his father’s middle name is Warren, a name long associated with the city and the paper mill.

The bride enjoys Maine, too. So, they chose Westbrook for the ceremony. “Jeannine’s favorite place to stay is Oqunquit,” Westbrook said.

As do most tourists, they planned to hang out and go to the beach. “Eat lots of lobster,” Jeannine added.

The ceremony drew attention as a passing motorist honked and the couple even met Westbrook Mayor Bruce Chuluda. While they completed paperwork in Hawkes’ office, Chuluda met the couple.

“I’m glad to have you tying the knot here,” Chuluda said.
