A New Hampshire man was found dead Friday night in the Budget Inn in South Portland after a standoff with police.
The standoff between Jeffrey Freeman, 40, and the police started at about 6 p.m., according to a South Portland dispatcher. Police said Freeman had been threatening to kill himself. Police entered the motel on Main Street at about 8 p.m., where they found Freeman dead from a gunshot wound.
