Laptops for BEHS teachers
The Maine Department of Education has expanded the Maine Learning Technology Initiative to include teachers and administrators in high schools throughout the state. Teachers at Bonny Eagle High School are receiving their laptops this month.
The education department said the initiative is a critical next step in supporting Maine educators in preparing all secondary students for college, career, and citizenship in the 21st century.
Church plans Octoberfest for teens
The Bar Mills Community Church, 13 Hermit Thrush Drive, is hosting “Octoberfest” from 6-8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28.
Teenagers are invited to go dressed in costumes, but not face masks. Four prizes will be awarded for costumes. The categories are most creative, scariest, funniest and favorite movie or TV character. The event will include surprises, games, food, fellowship and a Christian rock band. For more information, call 929-6552.
Thomson joins TruChoice board
TruChoice Federal Credit Union announced today that Andrew Thomson has been elected to its board of directors. A resident of Kennebunk, Thomson has a bachelor’s degree in information management and technology from Syracuse University and is currently pursuing his master’s.
With six years of experience in financial services, “Andrew has expertise in banking and information technology that will prove valuable to TruChoice and our members,” said Ken Acker, president and CEO of TruChoice.
One of the first financial institutions to install remote teller systems, TruChoice has one in its new Buxton branch.
Cutline (1498 laptops) – Under a state program, all Bonny Eagle High School teachers are receiving laptops this month. Britney Bruce, teacher Lauren Cyr, Sarah Bissonette, Tyler Bisson, and Shaun Austin use laptop computers in their Foods for Wellness class. They are using the computers to learn about the new food pyramid for meal planning.
