It’s been an exciting week for Cape Elizabeth Town Councilor Mary Ann Lynch, who was re-elected to the council Nov. 6 and selected two days later to serve as its chairwoman for 2008.

“It’s truly a privilege to be elected, but it’s really a privilege to serve with all of you,” she said to her fellow councilors at a workshop meeting Thursday. “It’s a wonderful council.”

The council will formally vote on Lynch, as well as on new committee members, at a meeting Dec. 10.

Lynch has served on the council for six years. Most recently, she served on the comprehensive plan committee and as chairwoman of the finance committee, a position that will be taken over by Councilor Jim Rowe.

Anne Swift-Kayatta offered to continue to chair the appointments committee, and joining her as members are David Backer and Paul McKenney.

Cynthia Dill will head up the ordinance committee, and Sara Lennon and Rowe will serve as members.
