The Scarborough Senior WOW Programs (WOW stands for Without Walls) are organized to meet the needs of Scarborough seniors. The programs focus on activities, education, health and wellness, uutreach, communications, funding, transportation and facilities.

Programs are held under the auspices of the Scarborough Community Services Office. Coming up in November:

Crafts with Grace, Thursdays, Nov. 15 and 29, from 10 a.m.-noon at the Hillcrest Recreation Center, 108 Hillcrest Ave.

Participants can work on wreaths, angels and more. No registration is required. Cost is $2 for materials.

Bingo is held Fridays at Hillcrest Recreation Center. Games begin at 11:30 a.m. and cost $2 to play as many cards as participants like.

The Out to Lunch Bunch gets together on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 12:30 p.m. Anyone who would like to be a part of this lunch club should call 730-4150 for more information.

Senior Series activities are held Wednesdays at the Hillcrest Recreation Center. Registration is required for all activities and lunches. Call Scarborough Community Services at 730-4150.

Nov. 28 – Bear Care Day. A representative from the Scarborough Police Department will explain a program that offers support to families who have experienced a house fire or other emergency. Donations of new teddy bears or stuffed animals will be accepted by the police department, and participants will find out what happens with these donations during the 11:30 a.m. presentation. Lunch will be provided for $3.

Coffee time at Freaky Bean, 360 Route 1, is every Tuesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., when seniors receive a 10 percent discount on all food and drinks.

Community Services operates a senior-to-senior database to help connect seniors to others in town with the same interests. Call Community Services at 730-4150 and ask to be put on the list.
