Thank you for re-electing me to my fourth term on the Westbrook City Council. It has been an honor and a privilege to represent you these past six years and I look forward to working with all of you for the next two years. Together, we can do great things.

I will try to extend more personal thank you’s over the next few weeks, but thank you to all who sent letters to the editor for me, let me put a sign on their lawns, talked to their neighbors about me and otherwise helped get me re-elected. I couldn’t do it without all of you.

Those who run for office also know that they must have the support of their family. I’m very lucky and need to thank my wife, Erica; our three children, Morgan, Shannon and Maura; my parents, Ed and Jeanne Rielly; my sister and brother-in-law, Brigid and Phil Delvecchio; Erica’s parents, Joe and Donna Richards; and my brother-in-law Craig Richards and his wife, Elizabeth, and their boys, Grant and Jack. As you can tell, this is a family thing.

I also thank my opponent, Dennis Welch, who worked hard and ran an honorable race. I applaud everyone who wants to serve the public good and who have the courage to place their names on the ballot.

Thank you very much.
