Hostile exchange
On Wednesday, July 2, at 11 a.m. police responded to the Extended Stay on Ashley Drive after a woman reported that a male had called her and informed her that he was going to come to the hotel and kill her. While police were present, a woman associated with the threatening male arrived at the hotel by taxi. Police determined there was a warrant for her arrest and arrested Ami Irish, 35, of 13, Ivory St., Hartland. Irish was wanted for unpaid fines, police said.
Cash recovered
On Wednesday, July 2, at 2:24 p.m., police responded to Lowe’s
on Gallery Boulevard for a theft complaint. According to police, a customer had entered the store with a white envelope containing $800 in cash and paid for $130 worth of merchandise, then left the envelope on the sales counter by mistake. When she returned to look for it, the envelope containing $670 was gone. Police reviewed security video and observed a man pocketing the envelope. The man was identified through a review of sales receipts as Kenneth Detty, 66, of Lakeworth, Fla., according to police. He was found in possession of the $670, police said, which was returned to the complainant, and was issued a summons for theft, police said.
Swimmer in trouble
On Thursday, July 3, at 4:58 p.m., police and fire personnel responded to Bayview Avenue for a report of a 9-year-old girl caught in the surf and being pulled into deeper water. Before police and firefighters could attempt a rescue, she was pulled to safety by an unidentified male good Samaritan. She was not injured.
Bicyclist struck
On Thursday, July 3, at 7:26 p.m., police responded to a report of a serious accident at the intersection of Route 1 and Queens Drive. According to police, an 18-year-old female bicyclist had attempted to cross the road and was struck by a passing car. She was seriously injured. Police did not release the identity of the bicyclist or the driver.
Too much
On Saturday, July 5, at 6:09 p.m., police responded to Burnham Road for a report of a suspicious-acting person. According to police, the man in question was discovered walking down the road, yelling obscenities at cars and urinating on the side of the road, heavily intoxicated. Despite being warned by police to stop, he allegedly continued yelling obscenities. Police also reportedly discovered that the man had injured a resident in the area by stomping on his big toe, causing it to bleed under the nail. Police arrested David Flint, 27, of 88 Skillings St., South Portland, and charged him with assault, disorderly conduct, indecent conduct, criminal threatening, refusing to submit to arrest/detention, and two arrest warrants.
