A panel of environmental advocates will convene Wednesday and 6:30 p.m., at the Scarborough Public Library, to discuss how individual and community-based initiatives throughout the state are producing efficiencies in energy consumption and conservation.

Panelists on the program, “Cool Communities: Reducing Your Carbon Footprint,” are Joan Saxe, author of the Maine Cool Communities Report for Maine Partners for Cool Communities (MPCC); Drew Dumsch, executive director of the Ferry Beach Ecology School; and Eric Cote, Saco town councilor and member of the Saco Energy Committee.

Saxe will provide an overview of the statewide “Cool Communities” program, Dumsch will discuss emerging green desig options for existing and new home construction, and Cote will talk about how energy initiatives in Saco has made it one of the greenest cities in Maine.
