Hundreds of food items were collected from skiers and riders at Shawnee Peak Sunday for the Bridgton Food Pantry.
The ski area hosted the first of two Tin Mountain canned food drives Sunday, offering $20 lift tickets to anyone who donated 3 canned or non-perishable food items to the Bridgton Food Pantry. A regular price all-day weekend ski pass costs $52.
Shawnee Peak will offer another day of discounted tickets for donations on Friday, Dec. 19 from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Bring 3 non-perishable or canned food items to Shawnee Peak and ski all day and night for $15.
“This is the fifth year of the program, which has really helped our pantry during the holiday season,” said Debbie Davenport, director of the Bridgton Food Pantry. “This year in particular, the need is quite high, so we appreciate the donations from Shawnee Peak skiers. Most people actually brought more than the minimum of 3 items, just to help out further.”
