John Gallagher, executive director of Westbrook Housing, has
been honored by the state’s largest nonprofit housing agency.
Avesta Housing, which covers communities throughout York and Cumberland counties, recently awarded Gallagher its Mike Yandell Award, presented annually to an organization or individual who has made significant contributions to affordable housing in southern Maine.
Yandell, a former Avesta board member, was a passionate advocate for affordable housing.
“Clearly, John is a recognized and respected leader in Maine’s
affordable housing industry,” says Dana Totman, Avesta president and CEO. “He goes above and beyond.”
Gallagher also is the president of Westbrook Development Corporation, the developer, most recently, of condominium communities at Riverview Lofts, Forest Street School and Homestead Village.
At Westbrook Housing since 1999, Gallagher lives in Bath. Before coming to Westbrook, he headed the development division of the Maine State Housing Authority.
