FREEPORT — Merriconeag Waldorf School received a $1,000 grant from the Maine Humanities Council to support the second annual Merriconeag Poetry Festival. The grant will cover the administrative costs associated with the competition and festival.
High school students from Cumberland, Androscoggin and Sagadahoc Counties are invited to submit poems to be reviewed by Betsy Sholl, Maine’s poet laureate.
The due date for submissions is March 1, and the festival will be held on the Freeport campus on May 3. All finalists will receive gift certificates and a booklet of the winning poems.
