SOUTH PORTLAND — Officer Chris Todd was named Officer of the Year for 2008.
Todd, who works the evening shift, is a member of the department’s Special Reaction Team and also serves as a field training officer. He was Officer of the Month in January and December of 2008.
A South Portland officer since 2000, Todd was recently honored at a Maine Association of Police Awards Banquet for his heroism when he forced entry into a home and rescued a mother and her 10-year-old son, who had been overcome by carbon monoxide.
Todd, selected by the department’s lieutenants and sergeants, will receive two paid days off, a personalized plaque, an award pin and will be officially recognized by the City Council on Feb. 18.
