DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — Shirley Mae Bennett, 74, formerly of Freeport, died Feb. 7.
She was born in Portland on Sept. 19, 1934, daughter of Walter Edward Slocum and Irene Winonna (Tufts) Slocum.
In 1952, she graduated from Freeport High School, where she met her husband of 55 years, Paul Maynard Bennett.
She had a zest for life and was very passionate about music and dancing.
Her family was the center of her life and she doted on her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Slocum and Gordon “Sonny” Slocum.
She is survived by her husband Paul M. Bennett; children, Paula Correia and husband Robert of Ashburnham, Mass., Shelly Harrison and husband Richard of Freeport, Shawn Bennett and fiance Carlene Harvey of Pownal; grandchildren, Tara and Gregory Correia, Jairet and Chanler Harrison, and Chelsey Harvey; sisters, Arlene Newell and Beverly Marion.
At her request, there will be no funeral services.
