2/17 at 4:54 p.m. Cynthia Rulman, 45, of Forest Avenue, Portland, was arrested by Det. Tom Brady and charged with theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.

Police received a report that two men were begging for food from businesses located in West Falmouth Crossing. By the time officers arrived, the men had left and could not be located.
Came back to bite her
2/17 at 3:37 p.m.
A woman on Ledgewood Drive called police to report she had been the victim of a money scam. In September, she had received a $5,000 check along with a letter telling her she’d won a contest from the Mystery Shopper Co. Following the letter’s instructions, she cashed the check, spent $1,000 buying items for herself and wired the $4,000 balance to the address they had supplied. She later received a notice from her bank informing her the check had bounced.

A FedEx employee was dropping off a package to a home on Middle Road when he was bitten on the leg by the homeowner’s dog. He reported the incident to police and went to the hospital where he was treated and released.
Reality bites
2/18 at 5:32 p.m.
A truck driver called police to report the theft of diesel fuel from his truck. He had parked his tractor trailer truck in the Falmouth Shopping Center lot. When he came back to the truck, he discovered a man in the process of siphoning the fuel from his truck with a hose and pump. When the thief realized he’d been spotted, he quickly pulled out the hose and drove off in his own truck, which had a Florida license plate.
