FREEPORT — Carol A. Ratte, 62, died Feb. 20 after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Zanesville, Ohio on April 16, 1946, a daughter of Richard and Vonda (Swope) Stottsberry.
She graduated from Zanesville High School and received an associates degree in criminal law from Ohio State University at Zanesville.
In 1994, she moved to Freeport and worked for Hannaford Supermarkets until 2005.
Her hobbies included painting, sewing and gardening.
She is survived by her companion, James A. Howard of Freeport; her daughter, Kim Carson of Beverly, Ohio; a brother, Robert Stottsberry and his wife Brenda, and a sister, Katherine Lee Stottsberry, all of Zanesville, Ohio; stepsisters, Nancy Ditter and her husband Neil of Zanesville, Ohio and April Foster and her husband Chuck of Easly, S.C.; an aunt, Ruth Ann Hildebrand, and an uncle, Gary Stottsberry and his wife Vicky; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 27 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick.
