Westbrook sportsmen:
The Westbrook High School boys basketball team was presented with the Maine Principals’ Association Good Sportsmanship Award for Class A West before Saturday’s Class A boys state championship game between Thornton Academy and Edward Little at the Augusta Civic Center. The Blue Blazes were selected as winners by a committee of coaches, media, officials, principals and others. The Westbrook boys last won the award in 2005. The Westbrook girls won the award last season.

Goan and hawkes:
Westbrook High swimmers Kyle Goan (left) and Derek Hawkes both won events at Saturday’s New England Swimming and Diving Championships at Bates College in Lewiston. The two were also part of a winning relay team.
