HARPSWELL — The Orr’s and Bailey Islands Fire Department is seeking qualified applicants for the annual Sue Cary Scholarship.

The scholarship is intended to help recruit and train new department members. It is offered to high school graduates and GED holders who are residents of Orr’s or Bailey Islands or the portion of Great Island served by the OBI Fire Department. 

Preference is given to responding members of the department, probationary members and immediate family of serving firefighters. 

Applicants must submit a completed application form, high school or college transcripts or GED test results. In addition, a personal statement, three recommendation letters and a letter from the higher education institution the applicant plans to attend must be submitted. 

Applications must be sent in writing to the Scholarship Committee, Orr’s & Bailey Islands Fire Department, P.O. Box 177, Orr’s Island, ME 04066. Applications must be returned between April 1 and May 15.
