CUMBERLAND — Three town councilors will run unopposed for re-election on June 9, while two candidates will compete for one seat on the School Administrative District 51 Board of Directors.

Council Chairman George Turner and Councilors Shirley Storey-King and Ron Copp are unopposed after turning in nomination papers for their current seats on the council.

Karen Campbell and Michael Brown are running for the School Board seat being vacated by Tom Shepard. Campbell has recently been outspoken at School Board meetings about issues surrounding the incoming sixth-grade class. Brown is a member of the Shellfish Conservation Commission.

The municipal election will be held June 9. Along with council and school board elections, the public will vote on allowing a credit union to be built on Main Street. A contract zone for the credit union was approved earlier this year by the Town Council, but a citizen petition gathered enough signatures to send the matter to voters.
