FALMOUTH —The Church of St. Mary the Virgin on Foreside Road will begin offering free community suppers twice a month on Fridays, starting May 22.
The family-style meals will include a soup, bread, homemade desserts and beverages. “Take-home” will be available for guests who bring their own containers.
The regular meal program is a way for the church to reach out to the community and provide practical help during hard economic times, the Rev. James Dalton-Thompson said.
Served on the second and fourth Fridays, from 5-7 p.m., the suppers will be funded initially by St. Mary’s. As the program becomes more established, the church hopes to secure donations of food from local supermarkets and other area suppliers.
