Deering girls’ basketball team holding workouts
The two-time defending Class A state champion Deering girls’ basketball team is holding workouts beginning June 15 at 4 p.m. Workouts are open to all incoming freshmen and upperclassmen who are interested in playing next winter. The cost for the four-week program is $150. FMI, 854-1775.

Maine Waves holding open practice

The Maine Waves girls’ lacrosse team will hold an open practice for its U-17 and U-19 teams Monday, June 22 from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Preble St./Back Cove field in Portland. There is no cost to attend, however, a signed waiver is required. FMI, 883-0458 or jtc1@maine.rr.com.

Lady Rams Hoops Camp upcoming
The two-time defending Class A state champion girls’ basketball program is holding a Hoop Camp from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., June 29 through July 3 at the Deering gym. The camp is directed by Rams varsity coach Mike Murphy. Cost is $150 per player. FMI, 854-1775.

USM lacrosse hosting two fundraisers
The University of Southern Maine men’s lacrosse team, coming off the first winning season in program history, is hosting a skills clinic/competition for boys ages 6 to 18 and a boys’ high school 3-versus-3 tournament on Saturday, June 27 at the Gorham campus’ Hodgdon Field. The clinic is from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $25 for pre-registration and $30 the day of. The 3v3 tournament goes from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Cost is $60 per team. New, unique lacrosse camp starting up
Former Yarmouth High lacrosse standouts Jon and Sam Miller are introducing the Grip and Rip Lacrosse Camp this summer. The camp is geared toward players who want to play in college, teaching them about the process, while continuing to hone their skills. Current college players will be in attendance as well to step up the level of play even higher. Jon Miller was a Division III All-American at Union College. Sam Miller currently plays DI lacrosse at Hobart College. The camp runs from June 29 through July 7, from to 5 to 8 p.m. daily on Yarmouth High’s turf field. The price is $125. Nova Seafood Baseball Clinic
Nova Seafood Legion coach Mike D’Andrea is presenting a baseball clinic June 22 through 26, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily at Deering High. The clinic will instruct in pitching, catching, hitting, fielding, throwing, baserunning and more. The clinic is open to girls and boys ages 7 through 15. Field hockey camp upcoming
The Cougar field hockey camp, run in part by Greely varsity coach Kristina Lane Prescott, featuring individual help at all levels and positions, offense, defense and goalkeeping, will be offered June 29 through July 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland. Ziggy’s Running Camp open for registration
Ziggy’s Running Camp for boys and girls ages 12 to 18, presented by Waynflete School cross country and track coach Brian “Ziggy” Gillespie, a member of the Maine Running Hall of Fame, will be held July 13 through 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. , at the Waynflete athletic field.
