PORTLAND — Police Tuesday said they arrested a Portland man for allegedly murdering his girlfriend.

William Hanaman, 51, was charged with the murder of Marion Shea, 47, according to police Capt. Ted Ross.

Police remained tight-lipped about other details surrounding last week’s death of the Gorham woman, including her cause of death.

Shea, 47, was found dead at an apartment at 1021 Ocean Ave. at around 11:30 a.m. Nov. 11. Police were called to the apartment to check on the well-being of a person, according to a statement from Chief James Craig.

The death was classified as suspicious and on Nov. 12 the state medical examiner said an autopsy determined that the death was a homicide.

Craig said in a press release that the attorney general requested that police not release any further information about the crime. The department’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the case with the AG’s office.
