Greely baseball is holding its annual “Legends of Maine” auction on Feb. 27, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Val Halla Banquet Center in Cumberland. This year’s event features University of Southern Maine coach Ed Flaherty and St. Joseph’s College coach Will Sanborn. FMI, murphpat@maine.rr.com.
Yarmouth seeking coaches
Yarmouth High School is seeking an assistant girls’ lacrosse and a junior varsity softball coach for the spring season. Aditionally, there are openings for junior varsity field hockey, assistant varsity football, girls’ varsity basketball and boys’ junior varsity basketball. Bowdoin hosting Girls and Women in Sports Day
Bowdoin College is hosting Girls and Women in Sports Day Sunday, Feb. 14 at the Farley Field House. The event, featuring free sports clinics taught by varsity women student-athletes from several sports, is free and open to girls in grades K-12. Grades K-3 go from 12 to 2 p.m. Grades 4-12 go from 2 to 4 p.m. FMI, bowdoin.edu/athletics.

Atlantic Sportswear’s new lacrosse division and retail store LAXPROS is hosting a stringing clinic for players and coaches Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at 36 Waldron Way, Portland (off Riverside Street). Day of Hockey fundraiser upcoming
“A Day of Hockey” to benefit the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital will be held Feb. 28 at the Cumberland County Civic Center. There will be youth games beginning at 7 a.m., a contest between the Southern Maine Law Enforcement All-Stars and the Portland Fire Department at 12 p.m. and a Portland Pirates vs. Albany River Rats contest at 4 p.m. The cost is $12. Running program set to begin
The Nor’Easter Run training/racing program for male and female runners of any level of ability, led by Maine Running of Hall of Fame coach Ziggy Gillespie, begins March 3. There will be Wednesday workouts at 6 p.m. and several races, including the Beach to Beacon. FMI, happy2smiles2001@yahoo.com.
