A Falmouth man who crashed near his house after being followed by a Cumberland officer, is in critical condition at Maine Medical Center, a spokeswoman said.
The 22-year-old Falmouth man is in the hospital following a crash at 1 a.m. this morning.
A Cumberland police officer spotted a pickup truck leaving a Blanchard Road business and tried to get close enough to get a license plate number. However, the pickup drove off at speeds reaching 90 mph.
Chase Blanchard lost control of the pickup he was driving on Blackstrap Road near Stoneridge Road and crashed into the trees.
Police are investigating to determine whether alcohol was involved.
