BUCKFIELD — A huge fire burned a Buckfield service garage to the ground and destroyed several vehicles in it, but firefighters were able to stop the flames after they spread to an adjoining house.

The Sun Journal of Lewiston says the wind-fed fire Thursday night burned down the Streaked Mountain Motor Group garage about a mile from the intersection of Routes 140 and 117.

Firefighters from several towns who were called to the scene managed to stop the flames before they destroyed an adjoining home, but Buckfield Fire Chief Steve Campbell says it sustained heavy water damage.

No one was injured in the fire.
