PORTLAND — The landmark B&M Baked Beans plant in Maine’s largest city has a new sign.
The 70-foot-wide sign was unveiled today atop the 97-year-old manufacturing plant in Portland. The old sign was blown down during a wind storm last summer.
The new sign has updated artwork with the B&M logo, as well as energy-efficient lighting that uses one-fourth the energy the former sign used.
B&M’s four-story brick plant is highly visible to thousands of motorists who pass by it each day on Interstate 295.
B&M is owned by New Jersey-based B&G Foods. Besides baked beans, the Portland plant makes Underwood canned meats, Ortega refried beans, Accent seasonings and B&M brown bread.
