More than 300 people took our culinary quiz that was published two weeks ago.
No one got all 15 questions right. Just one person, Becky Kimbrough of Portland, got 14 out of 15 answers correct.
Kimbrough is the winner of the luncheon for four in the dining room of the Southern Maine Community College Culinary Arts building.
Which question did Kimbrough miss? “According to Escoffier, what is the French word used to describe the process of frying the vegetable base for a braised meat?” The answer was “pincage.”
Five other readers won $20 Hannaford gift cards. One person has not responded yet to claim their prize, so if you took the quiz and haven’t checked your e-mail yet, better do it now.
The other winners were Janet Benzel of Cape Elizabeth; Eric Wentworth of Portland; Bill Landenberger of Lyman (who also happens to be a chef); and Stewart Taylor of Westbrook.
