SACO — Collective Motion presents the premiere of a new piece of contemporary dance, “been Here before,” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Thornton Academy’s Harry P. Garland Auditorium.
The show offers an evening-length work that addresses themes of environmental destruction, political power plays and interpersonal warfare. Each section, ranging from the humorous to the serious, represents an independent emotion, era or situation. Taken together, “been Here before” acts as a metaphorical mirror to society’s inability to break its own self-destructive patterns.
Established in 2006, Collective Motion is a modern dance company based in southern Maine. It embraces the spirit of the collaborative arts through the promotion of area dancers in roles of both performer and choreographer.
Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Call 286-6450 for reservations.
