Sanford High School was locked down for 90 minutes today after one student stabbed another with a knife.
Shortly after lunch, two students from Acton got into a fight in a public area, with one of them stabbing the other with a small knife, said Superintendent Elizabeth St. Cyr.
The victim was taken to Goodall Hospital.
“They were not lethal injuries by any stretch,” St. Cyr said.
The assailant was taken into custody by the school resource officer and police are conducting an investigation, St. Cyr said.
Both students are under 18 and she did not identify them.
The school was locked down immediately after the incident in keeping with its safety plan and students are being sent home today with a note from school officials describing the incident.
The school will provide traumatic stress counselors Friday for staff and students, she said.
