Update 9:10 p.m.

A North Turner man was killed this morning when the tractor-trailer he was driving overturned on the Falmouth exit of the Maine Turnpike, also known as the Falmouth Spur, state police said.

Marc Moreau, 40, was killed instantly in the accident, which occurred at 10:30 a.m., state police said. Troopers said Moreau was talking on his cell phone and may have been driving too fast.

It took more than four hours to remove Moreau’s body from the wreckage, state police said.

The truck was hauling garbage to a landfill in the Bangor area. Tons of garbage spilled across the southbound ramp, closing it to traffic until it was cleaned up, police said.

1:32 p.m.

State Police are investigating a fatal tractor-trailer crash on the southbound Interstate 295 exit ramp leading to the Maine Turnpike in Falmouth.

The crash happened at 10:30 a.m. when the truck rolled over in the median.

The deceased driver was still in the cab at noon and no other details were available, police said.
