WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Ashley Kelley pitched a one-hitter with five strikeouts as the University of Maine beat Hartford 8-0 Sunday in an America East softball game.

Kirstin Allen had three hits for the Black Bears (13-20, 2-1 America East), including a three-run homer in the third inning, and Terren Hall added a two-run homer in the fourth.

Maine scored in the eighth against the Hawks (8-6, 1-2) on Margaret Hilton’s RBI single. 

UNE, ENDICOTT SPLIT: Amber Zablowsky threw a one-hitter as the Nor’easters (10-4, 5-1 Commonwealth Coast) won the opener 3-0 against the Gulls (7-7, 2-2) at Biddeford.

Endicott bounced back for a 2-0 victory in Game 2 on Jenna Bortolotti’s four-hitter. 

ST. JOSEPH’S SWEEPS SUFFOLK: The Monks (13-5, 8-0 GNAC) ran their winning streak to nine games with a 2-1 and 8-0 sweep against Suffolk (2-18, 2-6) at Boston.

BOWDOIN SWEEPS HUSSON: Tricia Thibodeau pitched a two-hitter as Bowdoin (13-5) won the second game 8-0 to sweep Husson (2-10) at Bangor.

Hillary Smyth had a two-run homer to help Bowdoin to a 9-2 win in the opener. Smyth finished the day with five hits and four RBI. 

WESLEYAN SWEEPS BATES: Wesleyan (10-6) outhit the Bobcats (2-8) 36-30 and posted 13-12 and 16-15 victories at Middletown, Conn.

Lauren Dobish had five hits and eight RBI for Bates.

BASEBALL

MAINE SWEEPS LEHIGH: The Black Bears (10-13) got RBI singles by Taylor Lewis and Tony Patane in the ninth inning for a 10-9 win to complete a sweep of Lehigh (6-13) at Orono.

Jeffrey Gibbs pitched a one-hitter and Myckie Lugbauer homered as Maine won the opener, 8-1. 

ST. JOSEPH’S SWEEPS SUFFOLK: Pat Moran homered and drove in three runs as the Monks (9-7, 3-1 GNAC) won the opener 6-1 at Quincy, Mass.

Suffolk (7-8, 3-1) scored seven times in the sixth inning to rally to a 13-8 win in the second game. Ben Grant-Roy had four hits for the Monks, and Mike Pratt knocked in five runs with three hits, including a home run.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

CASTLETON STATE 13, USM 10: The Spartans (4-3) jumped to a 6-1 halftime lead and held off the Huskies (3-2) at Castleton, Vt.

Jessica Knight led USM with three goals.

ST. JOSEPH’S 22, BECKER 14: Lauren Hagerman had eight goals and two assists, and Amelia Santos added three goals and one assist to lead St. Joseph’s (5-0-1) past Becker (1-4) at Leicester, Mass.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

SETON HALL: Kevin Willard has agreed to leave Iona to replace Bobby Gonzalez as Seton Hall’s coach, a person familiar with the hiring said. Gonzalez was fired on March 17. 

IOWA: Fran McCaffery is leaving Siena to become Iowa’s new coach, replacing Todd Lickliter, who was fired after the Hawkeyes went 10-22 this year.

McCaffery was 112-51 in five seasons at Siena.
