LIVERMORE FALLS — Police say an 11-year-old boy was mauled by a pit bull while visiting family friends at a home in Maine.
Livermore Falls Officer Vern Stevens said the dog bit the boy’s lower legs and abdomen during the attack this morning. He said it was the dog’s second attack this month.
Stevens told the Sun Journal the boy lost a “massive” amount of blood and was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he was in stable condition. He said the attack took place while a 12-year-old girl was baby-sitting the boy and her two siblings, who are 7 and 3 months, while her mother was away.
Stevens said an animal control officer has taken custody of the dog until it could be determined what to do with it.
