More than 100 skiers and snowboarders tried their luck at riding 50 feet across a pond Saturday at Saddleback Mountain in Rangeley.
Competitors and spectators who got wet at the pond skimming event were grateful for the temperatures in the 70s.
“It’s been warm before, but it has never been like this,” said Jim Quimby, mountain operations manager.
Festivities continue today at Saddleback with an Easter egg hunt at 9:30 a.m. on the lower trails, where the finder of a golden egg will win a pass for next season at the ski area.
