PORTLAND — A Portland ambuance had to be towed after it collided with a sports utility vehicle tonight at York and Center streets..
Deputy Fire Chief Mike Shutts said the collision took place around 7:30 p.m. as Medcu 6 was responding to an emergency call. There were no patients on board.
Portland Police Lt. Mike Jones said the ambulance collided with a sports utility vehicle, which landed on its side. The SUV’s driver, whose name was unavailable, was transported by another ambulance to Maine Medical Center with what were believed to be minor injuries.
Jones said the accident remains under investigation.
The paramedics who were operating Medcu 6 were not injured, but Shutts said the ambulance had to be towed from the scene. He said the ambulance sustained damage to its front end.
