ORONO — Alexis Souhlaris had four hits and three stolen bases and got a win on the mound as the University of Maine swept an America East softball doubleheader against Binghamton, winning both games 4-0.

Ashley Kelley pitched a six-hitter with five strikeouts for her eighth win in the opener. Souhlaris scored the go-ahead run on an error after opening the first inning with a bunt single. Hilary Kane homered in the second inning.

Souhlaris and Beth Spoehr combined on a five-hitter in Game 2. Souhlaris, who allowed four hits in six innings, had two hits and scored a run. Kali Burnham had an RBI double and Kirstin Allen an RBI single. 

UNE SWEEPS NICHOLS: Amber Zablowsky pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks for her fourth shutout of the season as the Nor’easters (17-5, 11-1 Commonwealth Coast) took the opener 5-0 against the Bison (7-17, 4-8) at Biddeford.

Casey Brigham supported Zablowsky with a two-run double in the second inning.

In Game 2, Sabrina Congram broke a 2-2 tie with an RBI single in the sixth inning as UNE rallied to a 5-3 victory. Erin Lyons pitched a six-hitter for the win.

ST. JOSEPH’S SWEEPS PINE MANOR: Emily Leverone rapped a two-run single as the Monks (21-5) took the lead with a five-run sixth inning during a 10-9 victory in the first game against Pine Manor (1-19) at Standish.

Leverone also had a two-run single as the Monks took the lead with a three-run fourth inning on the way to an 8-6 win in the second game.

Pine Manor led 9-5 in the opener before Leverone’s hit. Liddy van der Linden doubled home the tying run before scoring the winner on Alyssa Dunn’s double.

Kayla Neilsen of Saco had four hits for Pine Manor in the doubleheader, including three homers. 

TRINITY SWEEPS COLBY: The Bantams (12-7, 6-0 NESCAC East) scored three times in the sixth inning of Game 2 for a 4-2 victory and a sweep of a doubleheader against the Mules (4-13, 0-3) at Hartford, Conn.

Alyssa Lepore had Colby’s only hit in Trinity’s 8-0 win in the opener.

W. CONN. STATE SWEEPS USM: Danielle Basciano homered in the third inning as the Colonials (8-10, 2-2 Little East) rallied to a 7-3 win against the Huskies (5-19, 1-3) in the opener at Danbury, Conn.

USM led 3-2 after an RBI single by Sarah Deroche, and sacrifice flies by Chelsea Eugley and Jess Hayden.

The Colonials raced to a 10-1 lead in the first inning and rolled to a 12-4 victory in the second game.

Deroche finished with three hits and two RBI, and Katie Davis had two doubles and two RBI for the Huskies. 

TUFTS SWEEPS BATES: Lauren Dobish and Leah Maciejewski had back-to-back singles for the Bobcats (2-15, 0-5 NESCAC) with two outs in the seventh inning to spoil a no-hit bid by Izzie Santone as the Jumbos (13-7, 4-1) won the opener 9-0 at Lewiston.

Kelly McManus had a two-run homer for Bates as Tufts completed the sweep with a 10-2 win.

BASEBALL

BOWDOIN 7, MIDDLEBURY 3: Kevin Zikaras and Dan Findley each knocked in two runs, leading the Polar Bears (17-5) over the Panthers (5-9) at Middlebury, Vt. 

SMCC, HESSER SPLIT: Montana Colby doubled home two runs in the fifth inning to cap a four-run rally and give the Seawolves (15-13) a 12-2 victory over Hesser (3-3) in the second game at South Portland.

Hesser won the opener, 5-4. 

ST. JOSEPH’S, LASELL SPLIT: Ian Lee’s first-inning grand slam helped the Monks (17-9, 5-3 GNAC) to a 13-1 second-game victory over Lasell (3-15, 3-5) at Waltham, Mass.

The Lasers won the first game 6-2 behind Josh Sullivan’s two-hitter.

USM, UMASS-DARTMOUTH SPLIT: Nick Hahn and Ben Ives combined to scatter 11 hits as the Huskies (11-8, 1-3 Little East) won the second game 9-2 at North Dartmouth, Mass.

The Corsairs (12-6, 3-1) got two unearned runs in the eighth inning to beat the Huskies 5-4 in the opener.

Collin Henry had three hits in Game 2 for the Huskies, and Christian Hamilton had a two-run single in the ninth. Nick Grady homered in the first game. 

BATES, TRINITY SPLIT: Gordy Webb had three hits and three RBI to lead the Bobcats (12-7, 2-4 NESCAC East) to an 8-4 win over Trinity (13-4, 6-3) in the second game at Hartford, Conn.

James Ramsey pitched a two-hitter as the Bantams won the opener, 6-0. 

ALBANY 11, MAINE 10: Ian Leisenheimer had a three-run homer for the Black Bears (15-14, 0-1 America East) in a loss to Albany (2-20, 1-0) at Albany, N.Y.

MEN’S LACROSSE

CONN. COLLEGE 13, BATES 8: Ryan Hayes scored three goals as the Camels (10-0, 6-0 NESCAC) beat Bates (4-6, 0-6) at New London, Conn.

David Barrett had three goals for the Bobcats, and Rory Cosgrove had two goals and one assist. 

BOWDOIN 11, MIDDLEBURY 6: Billy Bergner had two goals and an assist, and Steve Thomas had two goals as Bowdoin (5-5, 3-3 NESCAC) defeated the Panthers (5-3, 3-3) at Middlebury, Vt. 

WNEC 12, UNE 8: Mike Santare scored three second-half goals to help lead Western New England (8-4, 7-1 Commonwealth Coast) to a win over the Nor’easters (4-8, 1-6) at Biddeford.

Michael Woods scored three goals to pace UNE and Matt Anderson scored twice.

MOUNT IDA 14, ST. JOSEPH’S 5: Paul Dolewa, Spencer Hunt, Benson Pasquarello, Luke LaFreniere and Elliot LaMarre scored for the Monks (4-6, 1-3 NAC) against Mount Ida (5-4, 4-0) at Newton, Mass. 

W. CONN. STATE 25, USM 6: Sean Macey scored all nine of his goals during the first half as the Colonials (4-6, 2-0 Little East) opened a 19-4 halftime lead over Southern Maine (2-7, 0-2) at Danbury. Conn.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

CONN. COLLEGE 13, BATES 12: The Camels (4-5, 1-5 NESCAC) overcame a 10-2 deficit to tie the game 11-11 at the end of regulation, then beat the Bobcats (4-5, 2-4) in double overtime at Lewiston.

Morgan Maciewicz had three goals for Bates. 

W. CONN. STATE 15, USM 13: Nicole Perrone and Kara Kruckiewicz each had four goals to help the Colonials (7-1, 2-0 Little East) rally past the Huskies (4-6, 0-1) at Gorham.

Jess Knight scored four goals for USM; Shelby Turcotte added three goals, Mary Vaughan had two goals and three assists, and Haley Jordan scored twice. 

UNE 12, WNEC 11: Danielle Cate and Mallory Long each had three goals and an assist to pace the Nor’easters (8-2, 6-1 Commonwealth Coast) past Western New England (5-6, 3-2) at Biddeford.

Jenna Barton and Jessy Dvorak added two goals apiece for UNE. 

ST. JOSEPH’S (MAINE) 15, ST. JOSEPH’S (CONN.) 3: Amelia Santos and Lauren Hagerman each had three goals, Alyssa Marchant, Vanessa Brooks and Jade Thyng each scored twice, and the Monks (9-0-1, 6-0 GNAC) defeated the Blue Jays (0-7, 0-4) at West Hartford, Conn.
