AUGUSTA — Another member of Gov. John Baldacci’s cabinet is leaving.

Commissioner Ryan Low of the Department of Administrative and Financial Services will leave his position in early July.

Baldacci, who made the announcement today, says Low “has done an incredible job during one of the most difficult economic times in a generation.” The governor says Low earned the respect of Democrats and Republicans alike.

Low, Baldacci’s former chief of staff, was the top finance official as Maine lopped its budget by hundreds of millions of dollars due to the sagging economy.

He’s accepted a position as interim vice president for administration at the University of Maine Farmington, which Low attended. The appointment is subject to approval by the board of trustees.

Education Commissioner Susan Gendron’s resignation was announced Wednesday.
