VESTAL, N.Y. – The University of Maine baseball team rallied for a 7-5 win in the second game to earn a split of an America East baseball doubleheader with Binghamton on Saturday.

The Bearcats (11-16, 3-2 America East) took the opener, 3-1.

The Black Bears (18-15, 3-2) tied the second game 3-3 in the sixth when Michael Fransoso scored on a single by Tyler Patzalek. Maine took a 6-3 lead in the seventh on RBI hits by Tony Patane, Fransoso and Joe Mercurio, then added a run in the eighth on Matt Howard’s RBI single. Justin Latta pitched the ninth for his second save.

In the opener, the Black Bears tied the game in the fourth inning when Ian Leisenheimer grounded out to score Patzalek, but Henry Dunn tripled to drive in the go-ahead run in the seventh.

Patzalek was 5 for 7 for the day.

GEORGETOWN: Center Greg Monroe plans to hire an agent and skip his last two seasons of college eligibility to play in the NBA.

The 6-foot-11 Monroe was a third-team All-American as a sophomore after averaging 16.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.5 blocks.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

COLBY 9, AMHERST 4: Kate Pistel scored four goals to lead Colby (10-2) over Amherst (7-4) at Waterville.

Kathleen Kramer scored two goals, and Amy Campbell and Carly Rapaport each added one for the Mules.

EMERSON 18, ST. JOSEPH’S 11: Lauren Hagerman had three goals and became the first player at St. Joseph’s (10-2-1, 7-1 GNAC) to reach 200 career points, as the Monks lost to the Lions (7-4, 7-1) at Portland.

Hagerman now has 126 goals and 76 assists.

ROGER WILLIAMS 11, UNE 5: Kasey Beckwith and Claire Halliday scored four goals, leading the Hawks (9-3, 7-1 Commonwealth Coast) to a win over the visiting Nor’easters (9-3, 7-2).

Cara Cole scored three goals for UNE, and Tara Geraghty had 13 saves.

BOWDOIN 17, COLORADO COLLEGE 3: The Polar Bears (7-4) raced to an 11-0 lead in the first period and rolled over the Tigers (7-4) at Brunswick.

Katy Dissinger had three goals in the first 3:34, with Katie Stewart, Katie Herter and Liz Clegg also scoring.

Clegg finished with three goals and an assist.

MEN’S LACROSSE

BOWDOIN 9, ENDICOTT 6: Billy Bergner scored four times to lead the Polar Bears (6-5) over the Gulls (8-6) at Beverly, Mass.

Bowdoin took a 3-1 lead with three goals in a span of 2:33 of the second period. After Endicott tied the game, Bowdoin answered with goals by Bergner and Adam Tracy for a 5-3 halftime lead. Tracy finished with two goals and an assist.

Berger put the Polar Bears ahead 8-4 with 5:38 left in the game. Russell Halladay had a goal and three assists for the Polar Bears.

ROGER WILLIAMS 14, UNE 10: Drew Smith and Justin Leddy combined for nine goals to lead the Hawks (7-6, 5-3 Commonwealth Coast) over the Nor’easters (5-9, 1-7) at Bristol, R.I.

Smith scored four of his five goals in the first half to give Roger Williams a 10-8 lead at the break.

Tyler Thomas had three goals and one assist for UNE.

UMASS DARTMOUTH 15, USM 11: Andrew Foster had six goals and an assist to lead the Corsairs (6-6) over the visiting Huskies (2-8).

Josh Arsenault scored three goals and four assists, and Christian Roberto added two goals and two assists for the Corsairs.

Mark White had two goals and one assist, and Derek Beaulieu added one goal and two assists for Southern Maine.

AMHERST 12, COLBY 5: Thomas McDonnell had four goals and one assist to lead Amherst (5-5) over Colby (7-5) at Waterville.

Alex Fox and Parker Holcomb each added two goals for the Jeffs. Mark Squicciarino had two goals and two assists to lead the Mules.
