BOSTON – The slumping Boston Red Sox put outfielders Mike Cameron and Jacoby Ellsbury on the 15-day disabled list and revamped their lineup for Tuesday night’s game against Texas.
Cameron is out because of a lower abdominal strain. Ellsbury has a bruised chest after colliding with third baseman Adrian Beltre on April 11.
Cameron missed two games last week when he passed a kidney stone and was a late scratch Monday with similar symptoms. His move was retroactive to April 19.
Manager Terry Francona said the Red Sox didn’t want Cameron to try to play through the injury.
Ellsbury has not played since his collision chasing a foul ball in Kansas City. He was put on the DL retroactive to April 12.
The Red Sox called up outfielders Josh Reddick and Darnell McDonald from Triple-A Pawtucket. Reddick was in the starting lineup in center field.
