KITTERY – A 21-year-old man suffered serious injuries Wednesday when his feet were cut by the blades of a riding lawn mower.

The man, who works for a landscaping company, was using the riding mower on a hillside at the Kittery Estates retirement community at 11:30 a.m. when the accident occurred, police said.

There were no witnesses so police are not sure whether the mower rolled over or there was some other mishap. A staff member heard the man yelling and called for help.

The man was taken to York Hospital and is expected to survive. An officer who provided details about the event said he did not have the man’s name.
