FREEPORT – Kyle Moore hit a two-run single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday to lift Freeport to a 3-2 win over Gray-New Gloucester in a Western Maine Conference baseball game.

The Falcons (1-1) were down to their final out when No. 9 hitter Zach Greene hit a single to keep his team alive. Jared Knighton and Josh Weirich each drew a walk to load the bases, and Moore singled up the middle to drive in the tying and winning runs.

Gray-New Gloucester (0-2) was held scoreless through six innings by Spencer Egan but took a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh. Chris Norton led off with a home run, and Heath Martell eventually scored the go-ahead run on an error.

Egan allowed just three hits and one walk and struck out 11.

Knighton opened the scoring with a home run in the fifth.

FALMOUTH 17, WELLS 7: Matt MacDowell hit for the cycle and drove in five runs as the Yachtsmen (1-1) beat the Warriors (1-2) at Falmouth.

MacDowell completed his cycle with a two-run homer in the sixth, ending the game because of the 10-run mercy rule.

Joe Barnes went 2 for 2 with three runs scored and two RBI for the Yachtsmen.

 

YORK 6, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 4: Jack Radke hit a two-run double, and Sam Leal had two hits and scored twice for the Wildcats (2-0) in a win over the Raiders (0-2) at Fryeburg.

Chris Cole allowed five hits in 62/3 innings to earn the win. Aaron Moran got the save.

GREELY 4, POLAND 1: Dan O’Brion pitched a six-hitter with 11 strikeouts as the Rangers (3-0) downed the Knights (0-2) at Cumberland.

Mark Dominick hit a two-out, two-run double in the second inning for Greely, which added two in the fourth on groundouts by Sam Thompson and Pete Stauber.

Connor King scored on Mike Littlefield’s sacrifice fly in the sixth for Poland. Devin Goyette had a single and a double for the Knights.

 

NYA 15, SACOPEE VALLEY 3: Will Strabley went 3 for 4 with three runs scored and four stolen bases to pace a 13-hit attack for the Panthers (1-0) in a five-inning win over the Hawks (0-1) at South Hiram.

Sam Kurland added two triples, two RBI and two runs scored, and Dean Darien struck out 10 while pitching a two-hitter.

 

YARMOUTH 9, LAKE REGION 1: Nick Whittaker hit a two-run homer and struck nine in five innings to lead the Clippers (2-0) past the Lakers (0-2) at Yarmouth.

Nick Place had a double for Lake Region.

 

LEWISTON 5, BRUNSWICK 4: Scott Ouellette had three hits, including a double, for the Blue Devils (2-1) in a win over the Dragons (1-2) at Lewiston.

Jack Faherty had three hits for Brunswick.

 

CONY 11, MT. ARARAT 0: Luke Duncklee scored three runs and Nick Lucas drove in a pair to lead the Rams (3-0) past the Eagles (2-1) in a six-inning game at Topsham.

Jake Beland struck out seven in four innings to earn the win.

KENNEBUNK 16, WINDHAM 7: Nick Gross scored six goals to pace the Rams (1-0) past the Eagles (0-1) at Kennebunk.

THORNTON ACADEMY 7, NOBLE 4: Tim Brose scored four goals and Parker Roma added two to lead the Trojans (1-2) past the Knights (0-3) at North Berwick.

Noble was paced by Nick Grant with two goals.
