PORTLAND — Nate Spears hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning to snap a 1-1 tie as the Portland Sea Dogs went on to beat the New Britain Rock Cats 4-1 this afternoon at Hadlock Field before a crowd of 6,890. The Sea Dogs have won 5 of 6.
Luis Exposito added an insurance run with an RBI double in the eighth inning and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Yamaico Navarro.
Feliix Doubront pitched 5 2/3 innings but did not get a decision. He gave up three hits and one earned run. T.J. Large (1-0) picked up the victory in relief, and Bryce Cox pitched in the ninth for his third save.
