EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Ben Grant-Roy was 3 for 4 with a double, a triple and five RBI, and St. Joseph’s advanced to the finals of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference basebball tournament with a 12-4 win Saturday over Suffolk.

Mike Burdin added two hits and four runs, and Pat Moran had two hits and two RBI for the second-seeded Monks (30-11).

Top-seeded Suffolk (20-14) also earned a spot in the finals with a 7-4 victory over Johnson & Wales, but the Rams must beat St. Joseph’s twice today to capture the title.

MAINE SPLITS WITH STONY BROOK: Taylor Lewis doubled home the go-ahead run in the fifth inning, and Kyle Stilphen homered and drove in three runs as the Black Bears (24-17, 8-4 America East) salvaged a split against the Seawolves (18-20, 7-5) with a 10-9 victory, after losing the opener 7-3 at Orono.

BOWDOIN, BATES SPLIT: Joe Pace pitched a five-hitter and Bowdoin (23-12, 6-6 NESCAC East) clinched a berth in the NESCAC playoffs with a 2-0 win in the first game of a doubleheader at Lewiston.

Bates (23-10, 6-6) won the second game, 7-2.

KEENE STATE SWEEPS USM: Bobby Doyon had five hits and seven RBI to lead the Owls (23-13-1, 8-4 Little East) to 12-10 and 12-6 wins over the Huskies (17-16-1, 6-5) at Keene, N.H.

Mike Eaton and John Carey each had a two-run homer for the Huskies in the opener. Tucker White hit a solo home run and Collin Henry had a two-run shot in the second game.

NHTI 5, SMCC 4: Montana Colby hit a two-run homer for the Seawolves (19-22), who lost their Yankee Small College Conference semifinal at South Portland.

SOFTBALL

WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 6, UNE 1: Sarah Lempicki struck out nine and allowed just one hit, and the third-seeded Golden Bears (26-18-1) eliminated the second-seeded Nor’easters (25-14) from the Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament.

MAINE SPLITS WITH BU: Terren Hall hit a two-run double and three-run homer to lead the Black Bears (21-23, 10-5 America East) to a 7-2 win in the second game after Boston University (28-18, 11-2) won the opener 5-0 at Orono.

BOWDOIN SWEEPS BATES: Clare Ronan homered in each game, including a two-run shot in the 10th inning of the second game, and the Polar Bears (30-10, 9-3 NESCAC) beat the Bobcats (4-24, 0-12) twice at Lewiston, 9-3 and 7-5.

USM SPLITS WITH KEENE STATE: Lauren DiCecco hit a three-run homer and Jess Hayden added a two-run blast to pace USM (9-27, 7-7 Little East) to an 8-3 win over the Owls (21-12-1, 8-4) at Keene, N.H., after the Huskies lost the opener, 5-3.

SMCC 9, CMCC 0: Kim Hunt pitched a one-hitter, and Becca Roberts and Darcy Webster each went 3 for 3 with three RBI as the Seawolves won at South Portland and advanced to the Yankee Small College Conference championship game.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

UNE 14, GORDON 10: Mallory Long scored four goals to lead the Nor’easters (12-4) past the Fighting Scots (5-9) in a Commonwealth Coast Conference quarterfinal at Biddeford.

KEENE STATE 10, USM 9: Mary Vaughan scored four goals for the Huskies (8-9, 2-4 Little East) in a loss to the Owls (12-4, 5-1) at Keene, N.H.

MEN’S LACROSSE

MAINE MARITIME 22, ST. JOSEPH’S 6: Paul Dolewa scored three goals, but the Monks (10-8) were eliminated by the fourth-seeded Mariners (7-6) in a North Atlantic Conference quarterfinal at Castine.

KEENE STATE 21, USM 7: Tim Bryant had four goals and two assists for the Huskies (3-11) in a loss to the Owls (10-5) at Keene, N.H.

ENDICOTT 16, UNE 4: Michael Woods had two goals for the Nor’easters (6-11) in a Commonwealth Coast Conference quarterfinal loss at Beverley, Mass.
