CASTINE — Maine Maritime Academy’s training cruise to Germany, France and England kicks off today.
The two-month cruise will take the 500-foot State of Maine from Castine to Marseilles, France, Kiel, Germany, and Portsmouth, England.
Capt. Larry Wade of Bradley, Maine, says that for many students, this will be their “first experience of what is to come in their careers.”
While in Marseille, the national merchant marine school will serve as hosts. Last year the training cruise went to Puerto Rico and Canada.
