BASEBALL
FLAHERTY OPTIONED: Former Deering High and Vanderbilt standout Ryan Flaherty was optioned to Class A Daytona after starting the season with the Tennessee Smokies of the Double-A Southern League.
Flaherty, who was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the supplemental round of the 2008 draft, hit .183 with one home run and nine RBI in 23 games for the Smokies.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE: Sarah Markey had four goals and one assist to lead Hebron Academy to an 11-6 win at Kents Hill.
Thaney Cockrell had three goals and an assist for the Huskies.
