BREWER  — The Maine State Police says a college student is facing charges he hit 150 miles an hour while fleeing police on a motorcycle.

Police say 21-year-old Chad Dionne of Madawaska was arrested Tuesday following the chase that began on Interstate 95 in Bangor, but he was later released on bail.

The Bangor Daily News says a trooper initially clocked Dionne at an alleged speed of 85 mph, but he sped away and swerved in and out of traffic at speeds that hit 150.

Trooper Chris Hashey said Dionne confessed to speeding and later acknowledged that “he just basically was being stupid.”
