PORTLAND — Air service between Maine’s Portland International Jetport and Toronto is taking off.

The first flight is due in from Toronto at about 4:40 p.m. today. The return flight to Toronto is due to leave Portland at 5:10.

The twice-daily service will help connect the home of TD Banknorth Financial Group in Toronto with executive offices of TD Banknorth in Portland.

And it marks a resumption of international flights out of Portland after flights were suspended in November to and from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
