A top Amtrak official will be the keynote speaker at the 22nd annual meeting of TrainRiders/Northeast on Wednesday in Portland.

Joseph McHugh, vice president of government affairs and corporate communications, is responsible for Amtrak’s legislative strategy when dealing the United States Congress and Amtrak’s interaction with the Executive Branch and state governments.

Patricia Quinn, executive director of the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority in Portland, is also a featured speaker.

The meeting, which begins at 5 p.m., will be held at the Holiday Inn By the Bay on Spring Street.

TrainRiders/Northeast, a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization with more than 1,300 members, was formed in 1989 to promote the benefits of passenger and freight rail service in New England.
