PORTLAND – Austin Downing’s RBI double broke a 1-1 tie and sparked a three-run seventh inning as Scarborough defeated Cheverus 4-2 Tuesday in a Telegram League baseball game.

Ben Wessel pitched a seven-hitter for the Red Storm (6-3). He struck out five and did not walk a batter.

Joe Cornin added an RBI single and Dan Murphy hit a sacrifice fly to cap the seventh-inning rally.

Joe Falconieri had two hits and one RBI for the Stags (6-4), and Joey Royer struck out four while pitching an eight-hitter.

 

BONNY EAGLE 8, THORNTON ACADEMY 0: Tyler Ruby finished with four hits and one RBI while Kevin Moskevich knocked in two runs and pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts to lead Bonny Eagle (7-3) over Thornton Academy (6-4) at Standish.

MARSHWOOD 4, NOBLE 0: Rob Harper struck out three and walked one while pitching a one-hitter to lift the Hawks (4-6) over the Knights (0-10) at South Berwick.

Marshwood opened the scoring on a home run by Matt Brenner to lead off the third inning.

Ian McAlister added three doubles and drove in a pair of runs for the Hawks.

 

BIDDEFORD 11, MASSABESIC 0: Tyler Parker knocked in four runs on two hits while Travis Vigneault added a two-run triple to lead Biddeford (6-4) over Massabesic (0-10) in six innings at Waterboro.

Trevor Fleurent allowed four hits and finished with five strikeouts for the Tigers.

 

DEERING 2, WINDHAM 1: Travis Wade pitched a three-hitter and singled to drive in the winning run as the Rams (8-2) defeated the Eagles (5-5) at Windham.

Wade struck out seven and walked one to register his third win of the season.

Cody Dube pitched a five-hitter for Windham with five strikeouts and one walk. Drew Gagnon had an RBI double.

SANFORD 3, KENNEBUNK 1: Ryan Legere and OJ Martin hit back-to-back RBI doubles to break a 1-1 tie as the Redskins (4-6) scored three times in the seventh to rally past the Rams (3-7) at Kennebunk.

Taylor Landry drove in Kennebunk’s run in the sixth with a double.

Dan Reed pitched a seven-hitter for the Redskins, walking one and striking out three.

 

YARMOUTH 5, GREELY 4: Nick Whittaker doubled to score Luke Pierce with two outs in the seventh inning as the Clippers (10-1) edged the Rangers (5-4) at Cumberland.

Pierce, Joey King and Dustin McCrossin each hit RBI singles in the fifth as Yarmouth took a 4-1 lead.

Ben Russell had a two-run single in the bottom of the inning to bring Greely within a run, and Pete Stauber drove in the tying run on a fielder’s choice in the sixth.

 

WESTBROOK 18, GORHAM 6: Joe Quinlan was 4 for 5 with four runs and an RBI, leading the Blue Blazes (8-2) over the Rams (3-7) in six innings at Gorham.

Zach Collett had three hits, including a double, to drive in three runs for Westbrook, and Sean Murphy had a single and a double with three RBI.

FALMOUTH 9, CAPE ELIZABETH 7: Nick Bachman scored three goals to lead the Yachtsmen (7-1) to a win over the visiting Capers (5-3).

Falmouth scored three straight goals in the third quarter to take a 9-6 lead.

Tom Foden led the Capers with three goals and an assist.

 

FREEPORT 14, GREELY 13: Christo Milholland scored 1:30 into overtime to lift the Falcons (6-2) over the Rangers (4-4) at Freeport.

Jackson Dodge scored for Freeport with four-tenths of a second remaining in regulation to force overtime. It was Dodge’s fourth goal, along with one assist.

Thomas Dorsey and Evan Hench each had four goals for the Falcons, and Hans Pope had a goal and assisted on the overtime goal. Alex Sturtevant made 14 saves to earn the win.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 11, LAKE REGION 1: Clark Prince recorded a hat trick and Corey Beaton added two goals as the Raiders (2-7) built a 3-1 halftime lead and pulled away from the Lakers (0-8) at Fryeburg.

Morgan Brown scored for Lake Region and Jarid Pierce finished with 37 saves.

Fryeburg goalie Brandon Daigle made 11 saves.

 

YARMOUTH 18, NYA 1: Evan Henry scored eight goals to lead the Clippers (8-0) to a 12-0 halftime lead against the Panthers (4-4) at Yarmouth.

Steven Petrovek added two goals and five assists, and Sam Torres and Matt Murphy each chipped in two goals.

Dylan Seeley scored for NYA.

 

WAYNFLETE 19, WELLS 11: Zander Majercik had five goals and four assists, and Miles Beaven had three goals and five assists as the Flyers (6-3) downed the Warriors (3-5) at Portland.

Josiah Baker-Connick added four goals and one assist for Waynflete, and Jay Witte finished with three goals and two assists.

Wells was led by Travis Shelly with three goals and three assists. Chad Whitten and Dave Darling each added three goals and two assists.

THORNTON ACADEMY 5, SOUTH PORTLAND 4: Chris Dolewa and Tim Grose scored two goals apiece to lead the Trojans (3-6) to a victory over the Red Riots (8-1) at South Portland.

Dolewa also added an assist and Tommy Allain finished with 10 saves for the Trojans.

Adam Burpee had two goals and Harrison Keithly added one goal and two assists for the Red Riots.

 

BRUNSWICK 12, OXFORD HILLS 3: George Mills scored four goals to lead the Dragons (6-2) over the Vikings (1-5) at Brunswick.

Sam Franco added two goals and four assists for Brunswick. Collin Tucker had two goals for Oxford Hills.
