FREEPORT — L.L. Bean in Freeport will play host to this year’s moose-hunting permit lottery. State game officials say it will be held June 17.

This year, 3,140 permits will be drawn for the fall hunt. Last year, 82 percent of the moose hunters were successful.

No more applications for the lottery are being accepted because the deadline has passed.

The drawing of names will be held under the moose lottery tent near L.L. Bean’s hunting and fishing store.

Moose permit lotteries have been held at different locations throughout Maine since 1999. Last year’s was held at the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
