AUGUSTA — Four days ahead of Tuesday’s primary election, Maine Gov. John Baldacci is expressing support for four bond proposals and a tax reform package passed by the Legislature last year.
In his weekly radio address Saturday, Baldacci urged Mainers to get out and vote.
He said he supports the bond proposals totaling $108 million for projects ranging from highway, rail and port improvements to wind-power development.
The governor also urged people to vote “no” on a ballot question asking if a tax reform law, which has not gone into effect, should be overturned. It lowers the top income tax rate from 8.5 percent to 6.5 percent while broadening the existing sales tax to new services and raising the food and lodging tax to 8.5 percent.
