PORTLAND  — Talk show host and medical marijuana advocate Montel Williams is speaking at a conference about Maine’s new law allowing medical marijuana dispensaries.

Williams is among the speakers at Saturday’s Maine Medical Cannabis Conference at the University of Southern Maine. Williams uses marijuana to help ease symptoms of multiple sclerosis.

Voters last November approved a ballot measure that expands Maine’s existing medical marijuana law. Among other things, it allows for retail dispensaries where medical marijuana patients can legally buy pot.

The conference will attempt to answer questions about what the law means for patients, health care providers, municipalities, law enforcement agencies and others.
